If a person must be obsessed by something, I suppose a boat is as good as anything, perhaps a bit better than most. A sailing craft is not only beautiful, it is seductive and full of strange promise and the hint of trouble.

Hoisting the New Furling Jib

A few weeks ago Joy and I stayed at the Port Ludlow Resort Hotel on a night the "sailboat circus" was performing.  The show is a French couple (and their 5 year old daughter) who travel up and down the west coast, between Mexico and Canada doing acrobatics on their 35 foot sailboat.  They sort of reminded us of how we probably looked hoisting the new roller furling sail on Segue II earlier this summer!
